Frida Skirt

The Mexican artist Frida Kahlo was known for her use of vibrant colours combined with traditional indigenous references; I would describe it as surrealist folk art.

Inspired by her work and style I created the FRIDA SKIRT Fully reversible and with wide hem frills the skirt flips and bounces as you walk....also mighty good for spinning!

The pattern for the FRIDA SKIRT is available in sizes 6-14 from my Etsy shop.  It's worn here with THE BANDEAU and a tie belt (made for the shoot) in linen.  For the skirt I recommend lightweight cottons like the voile fabrics used here.

I'm in the process of remaking the entire ensemble in a collection of textured blacks (very Melbourne) but I also spied a printed voile called Peanut Butter & Honey (half price right now) which would give the skirt a cool vintage look....magnifique!

Your Frida inspired skirt is stunning - your pattern mixing is perfect :)

I've nominated you for a Liebster Award. See: http://threadtheoryblog.wordpress.com/2013/03/22/liebster-award/ I realize not everyone is interested in this type of award so don't feel obligated to pass it on or reply - it's just a way of saying that I admire your company and blog!
    Take care, Morgan
